Political, institutional, and legislative challenges can undermine the integrity of knowledge and erode public trust in universities.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5179b72 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5179b72\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9c6f44a\" data-id=\"9c6f44a\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f8067a6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f8067a6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In light of this situation, the journal <a href=\"https:\/\/journals.openedition.org\/ethiquepublique\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>\u00c9thique publique<\/em><\/a> is launching a <a href=\"https:\/\/fqppu.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/Call_Proposals_Ethiquepublique_vol27-2-2025.pdf\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\"><strong>call for proposals<\/strong><\/a> for its upcoming issue. The issue is co-directed by Lucie Lamarche, a professor at the Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al and chair of <a href=\"https:\/\/fqppu.org\/en\/the-committees\/\">FQPPU\u2019s Permanent Committee on Academic Freedom<\/a>, along with Camille Fernandes, an associate professor of public law at the Universit\u00e9 de Franche-Comt\u00e9.<\/p><p>This call aims to explore current challenges to academic freedom and identify strategies to protect it. It enables academics to conduct research, teach, and express themselves freely while upholding their ethical responsibilities.<\/p><p>However, the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scholarsatrisk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scholars at Risk<\/a><\/strong> network reported approximately <strong>2,500 incidents<\/strong> targeting academic freedom across <strong>123 countries<\/strong> in 2022. These explicit or subtle attacks harm individuals and undermine democratic institutions.
