A new report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timeshighereducation.com\/news\/international-ranking-2026-visa-crunch-nations-suffer-declines\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Times Higher Education<\/em> (THE)<\/a> reveals that most universities located in countries that have introduced restrictive immigration policies for international students have declined in the ranking of the world\u2019s most international universities, which measures institutions\u2019 engagement in international research networks and their global reputation.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-94b8b7b elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"94b8b7b\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-a3125b6\" data-id=\"a3125b6\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c6846d9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c6846d9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The report also highlights that these universities risk losing ground in the overall rankings. These findings confirm the predictions made by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise des professeures et professeurs d\u2019universit\u00e9 (FQPPU) in <a href=\"https:\/\/fqppu.org\/en\/bill-74-university-autonomy-quebecs-appeal-in-danger\/\">its brief on Bill 74<\/a> and in <a href=\"https:\/\/fqppu.org\/en\/international-students-in-quebec\/\">its analysis of the situation of international students in Quebec universities<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 2026 THE report shows that 75% of ranked Canadian universities (including McGill University) dropped places, along with 83% of Australian institutions and 60% of Dutch universities\u2014three jurisdictions that have recently introduced caps on international student recruitment.
